Patrick Flynn has over 20 years of experience in workouts and distressed situations as a direct lender and principal investor for regulated banks and private capital firms. He is currently responsible for business development and providing financial advisory services to debt and equity investors, management, and Boards of Directors.
Mr. Flynn has extensive experience on official and ad-hoc creditor committees and has served as a director, observer, or major shareholder of over twenty companies. He is adept at creating solutions for clients that maximize value in complex capital structures.
Prior to joining Carl Marks Advisors Mr. Flynn was a Partner at Sasco Investment Group, an alternative investment manager focused on U.S. middle market direct lending and special situation investing. Previously he was a Managing Director at LStar Capital, the credit affiliate of Lone Star Funds, where he built and led the corporate debt underwriting and asset management teams. Mr. Flynn also served as a Managing Director at CIT Group, where he led multiple workout teams creating and executing recovery strategies for troubled investments across the SIC spectrum.
Mr. Flynn started his career at GE Capital and held roles of increasing responsibility in field examination, origination, credit, and workout. Mr. Flynn rose to the level of Managing Director in GE Capital’s Distressed Investing Group where he was responsible for a multi-billion dollar portfolio of distressed investments across the capital structure.
Mr. Flynn earned a BS in Finance from the University of Connecticut and an MBA from New York University’s Stern School of Business.
