NEW YORK – January 31, 2014 – Carl Marks Advisors, a leading consulting and investment banking advisor to middle market companies, announced today that it has named Joseph D’Angelo to partner.

Mr. D’Angelo, 47, works with company management as an advisor or interim officer to develop and implement business plans that restore top-line growth and increase enterprise value. He also represents secured creditors in restructuring cases requiring operational insights and strategies. Mr. D’Angelo’s recent cases include confidential clients in for-profit education and advising the prepetition secured lenders to Exide Technologies.

Prior to Carl Marks Advisors, Mr. D’Angelo served as a principal at XRoads Solutions Group, senior vice president at Platinum Equity, and managing director at Alvarez & Marsal LLC. He also held corporate telecommunications roles, including chief financial officer at Rhythms NetConnections Inc., a startup DSL CLEC, and management positions with Sprint Corp., in Kansas City.

Mr. D’Angelo earned a BA from Columbia University and an MBA from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He is a member of the Turnaround Management Association.
