CMA professional served as President of Babson College from 2001-2008.   CMA Professionals also served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees from 1996-2001, before agreeing to the role of Interim President and was officially named the 11th President after the Presidential Search Committee completed the search process.

Engagement Highlights

  • CMA was commissioned to turnaround the college, specifically the financial challenges the college was having with excessive costs and the lack of fund raising as well as reconnecting the alumni base.   
  • Served as an acting Chief Restructuring Officer in this respect and commissioned a three-person team to visit every division in the college in order t0 identify expense reductions while not undermining the student experience – the review lasted for 3 months.
  • Under CMA professional leadership, Babson strengthened its innovative programs for undergraduate and MBA students, which helped earn the college the No. 1 ranking in entrepreneurship by U.S. News and World Report for 15 consecutive years.
  • As a result of the initial three-month review process, CMA was able to cut $12 million of expenses out of a $140 million budget. No faculty, sports programs, or student-related clubs or activities were cut from the budget.
  • CMA built the undergraduate student enrollment base from what was approximately 400 students per class to around 500 students per class. CMA created a hybrid “Fast Track” MBA program.
  • CMA was also successful in re-engaging certain alumni groups that were previously alienated, which led to multiple successful fundraising campaigns during his tenure.
